A couple of glamour shots from BBRSP this week; while it did not go as planned there were still some great views. But now I have a few things to work on or get worked on; some new and some old.

We did drop off a few liquor bottles at Presidio Bar as well.

Well, 405k miles the e-locker & housing are out and the standard 4.10 gears and housing is in. I will get a Harrop installed hopefully after the summer.

Why not an ARB locker?

So after running the 4.10 gears for over 1k miles last weekend the mileage jump is much more than I expected with the 5% difference. When I was running nothing but highway on I-10 with a loaded down cabin I still averaged 17.5 ~ 18 mpg. I refueled when on the smaller roads headed home towing the empty trailer with an average ~16 mpg. All MPG estimates are at 70 to 80 mph; if I can get a full tank at 70 mph or less I will report back.

Call me bias'ed but I will take a 23 year old Toyota over a new rig.

There is something to be said for the power and comfort of a newer vehicle. I enjoy my 2001 4Runner but it could use some creature comforts.

Notes so I do not lose them -

Repairs and work done @ 412k miles - all work performed by local shop
1) 90k service - timing belt, water pump, cam seals and such
2) Replaced the radiator
3) Replaced the fuel filter
4) Replaced the valve cover gaskets
5) Intake manifold issue - to replace the valve cover gaskets the intake manifold had to come off. A stripped thread was located that had to be repaired with helicoil. Also the mechanic replaced a bad PCV valve and leaking vacuum hoses (most likely cause of check engine light lately).
6) Supercharger vacuum hose port - thread repaired and port attached for boost gauge again
7) Spark plugs replaced (well past due)

I thought I was done working on the 4Runner for a while. The exhaust has started rattling again so it is time to properly replace it. I wanted to do a stainless exhaust last time but it was out of budget; maybe this time I can do it and not think about it again. I ordered the Magnaflow Stainless Overlander exhaust with tunable J pipe.
