Story started a couple weeks ago with this 2015 SR5 Premium 4x4. Traded in my wife's escape

Which tragically ended 3 weeks later like so

Vehicle was deemed a total loss and THANK GOD FOR GAP INSURANCE. Btw these things have an insane amount of airbags in them.

Just replaced it with this brand new 2018 TRD Off-road Premium with off-road package that included the TRD wheels, nitto all terrains, the fake sliders, and a black roofrack.

First order of business will be 20% tint all the way around. Maybe 35 up front

Next I want to try attempting to convert these fake sliders to real ones. Cut the mounting brackets off and seeing if I can order a set of mounting legs from a vendor. Might put a kick out on the back also. The steps are removable, couple bolts and they come off.

Front end on these 5th gens look too good imo to pull off. Wanting to do one of the bumpers that replaces just the middle. I heard @tex Might have his for sale after he sucked a couple dudes off for full bumper.

Going to do a 2-3" lift also. I saw Toyota is having a sale on the TRD Pro suspension set up for like $475. Probably going to go that route with different springs.

Full set of skids will go on it eventually also.

Main goal for this rig is to make it capable of handing almost any trail in Ouray, Co and screwing around in Bridgeport.

I've been looking into tint. I love the idea of the ceramic stuff

Per my film guy it is the best and he's an old timer who only does film/wraps. He talked me into it as soon as I can find the $600 I'm willing to spend to do it.

Wonder if you could sell off the fake sliders to a bro then pay for real ones with the difference? Bro's love the "no go/all show" crap.

The Colorado ZR2 pakage ones are the same - attach to the body instead of the frame. At least the way they named the package points to the truth!

What are those "sliders" made out of? I'm assuming they're pretty thin like most stock steps? Even if mounted to the frame, will the outer tubes be strong enough to act like sliders without bending?

Good question. Id have to drill into them to find out. May just be better off selling them and putting the real thing on. Gonna copy that step design though. I kinda like it

Look at the Shrockworks sliders. By far the best for the money in my opinion. Aaron has them, Zech has them, and I had them on my 4Runner. Get the dimpled plates on them and the steps won't even be necessary. They stick out plenty far to be used as a step.

They're constantly running group buys as well for ~15% off. They're actually setting one up now for this summer over on T4R it looks like.

It is not a war crime the first time.

Why order brackets? You have some 2" square pipe someplace in your scrap piles. Just use that.

Im shocked they only come with 2 supports. I think my taco had 5....

There's an optional third support but honestly they don't need them. Go look at Aaron's sometime. They're super beefy and super strong. They use thicker steel than most and a lot of mounting points. You can support the weight of the vehicle on them easily and they won't deflect.

Any more info on it? Will it keep the pinstripes away from rubbing brush?
Just talked to North Texas Clear Bra. Full 3m is around $6k. Said he had that ceramic coating product that he says will self heal with heat applied to it. Cheaper one is $1350, which has 60% of the self healing of the more expensive one for $2450. Hmmmmm decisions decisions

Just remembered, I have my Husky floor mat for the rear seat if you want it. It's just been under my bed since I traded my 4Runner. My dog chewed up the front ones or I'd offer those as well. It's not much but it'll save you a bit of money.
