I use Steel Supply LP for purchasing metal for construction. You can drive in with a regular truck and trailer to load up. They are open on saturdays as well.

I have several contacts in Houston, I'll have my procurement guy ask around and see what he can find.

JP steel didnt have any in stock, so they are getting back to me with a quote for a 4x8 sheet. I dont need all 4x8, but thats all they will sell me.

You check out any heavy machinery dealers or companies that service them? I would think they are typically the main users of it.

ALRO has a drop that is $275 shipped. Its 3/16" - 38"x48". Should be enough for the skid. Seems pricey for it, but im waiting back to hear from a few other places on quotes.
