How long will Balakay keep his "new to him" Lexus?

Our resident car flipper @balakay has said time and time again that this is the rig he is keeping. One of the many 1st gen Tacos (which I'll give him credit he still has one but I think he is afraid to drive it after he broke the shit out of it at Jambo), the super charged Tundra (perfect daily driver on 35's), the fullsized Dodge, the 15' 4Runner (that was the one that would rule them all).... I'm sure I am missing some. Anyhow, now our dear @balakay has a sweet new to him Lexus GX470. Its the answer to his prayers and, in all honesty I think he will have this for a long time.. I know I would. But what says YOU the TOR family... give me your odds and we can come back here in X amount of months when the new <insert shiny object here> comes out and this beautiful GX470 gets kicked down the road?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say January 2020.

April 13, 2017 Been dreading this post because I know what's coming but.

Been dreading this post because I know what's coming but... I traded the 4Runner today. I loved it but over the last few months I started finding things about it that annoy me. The seats were extremely uncomfortable and caused all kinds of back pain for me if I was sitting in them over 20 minutes, anytime I towed anything over 2500lbs I hated it, I kept getting steering wheel vibes that I couldn't track down and didn't want to start down that rabbit hole, I was putting a shit load of miles on it and killing the resell, and lastly I was tired of making those big payments and still having 4.5 years of payments left. So I've been looking for a 4th gen 4Runner for the V8 option. After Andy posted his thread on his GX it got me interested in those and I found one yesterday local that was a pretty good deal in my eyes. So now I own a 2005 GX470 Sport. Freed up some money on the monthly payment (and insurance) and took a huge chunk off of the remaining months on the loan.

So what kind of gas mileage does this thing get? 20 highway? The wifes 08 4Runner with V8 got 20-21 and I'm guessing its damn near the same.

My son is 21, he bought a 2000 Corolla when he turned 17.. drove it for a year and it had a catastrophic oil leak and it blew up on him. I want to say the rear main seal blew out on the highway and it just took the engine out within 10-15 minutes. SO he bought a 2003 Ford Taurus and he still drives that thing. He is content with it.. its clean that's about all I can say for it. He said after he graduates college he might buy something else. I sometimes wonder if he really is my kid.
