I have no issue with re-naming a base. I have concerns over WHY they are doing it. Trying to purify our history will only doom us to repeat it. Lee was not pro slavery and only fought for the Confederacy out of duty to his homeland. That was a different time in American (and world) history. He was a brilliant military mind that was well respected by all peers.

Took these pics last week. We also toured through John Paul Jones house. Last Wednesday we did a self tour of the island of Portsmouth Navy Base and museum(only open to mil ID card holders on Thursdays), that was pretty cool. That base has camera restrictions especially near the sub docks etc.

The number of vets, especially those who participated in D-Day, is dwindling.

Damn, that area is where I wa stationed with my first unit. NOB Norfolk was a cesspool back then. I cannot imagine it is much better now; so many of those building had too many issues to repair. They were trying to tear them down when I was there.

They might have torn them down and rebuilt. I looked at Google maps images of the 4 stateside bases I was stationed at and lived in base housing. All the housing has been replaced with homes that look like a normal suburban neighborhood. Not the bullshit cinder block housing I lived in. Actually looks nice.

AAFES is selling appliances through HD now. Found that they sell cheaper than HD, including sales, & tax free. Shipping fulfilled by HD.

Applicable to Combat Veterans that own Home or Land in Texas.

I also had my properties removed from public search/information.

Fill out form 50-284 and turn in to appraisal district. Your welcome!

That is a really good result. The local appraisal board in my county rarely comes down more than 15%; much less 30%. Your 50% reduction is unheard of. People are getting lawyers and professional representation to deal with this board with minimal results.

Part of the problem is the group in the 2010s kept value repressed on purpose and now the State has taken notice. So it is hard to say a property is only worth $150k when a similar house down the same street sells for $400k less than 90 days ago.

47.4% decrease to be exact.

Well I pulled up the appraisal guidelines/manuals and read for a few hours. Boring as crap, hard to understand, multiple times I had to go back and re-read stuff. From my understanding, it's all about the codes, how the real assets are classified and condition codes associated with that property. Lots of pictures and then comps. Ask the board what comps they are using and go from there, most values are assigned in the median/average.

Also to note, if the appraised value increased, but less than $1k total, the SOB's do not have to notify you!!!
