Tommy want wingy..
Thought I would add a little of my build to grace the pages of TOR. It mainly gets wheeled when Im down south at the parents and when houston actually gets a little rain
Overview of mods:
King 2.5 CO's w/resis + All Pro 3" leaves + 5125 in the rear
285/70/17 BFG KM2's on 17x8 Pro Comp 7005's
Shrockworks Front bumper and Sliders
Lightforce 170 Strykers
Silverstar headlights and fogs
Bud Built Skids
High Lift mounted in bed
Chopped TRD exhaust
Armortech High Clearance Rear bumper
20% tint
The first mod that I thought is essential to any 4x4 is traction and suspension.
I went with a set of 2.5 Kings with the Resi's for the front and an AAL for the rear.
I picked up a set of 10" stroke Bilstein 5125's for the rear also
For my wheel and tire combo I went with the some 17x8 Procomp 7005's with 4.5 BS and wrapped them in some 285/70/17 BFG KM2's
The truck has done very well with this combo so far.
My next step was Armor. I met up with the guys at Shrockworks here in houston and they hooked me up with some sliders and a front bumper replacement.
Sliders mounted:
My favorite mod to date: Shrockworks front bumper with the Prerunner front hoop cut at a 20 degree angle
Installed:
From there I added the OEM foglights to the new bumper:
Here is how I attached it behind the bumper:
I had a set of KC's from my previous truck but decided to upgrade to the Lightforce 170 Strykers: Awesome light output!!!!
I ran the switch inside and mounted it in one of the OEM slots:
I had my old trusty Hi-Lift that I mounted in the bed with a set of 4xRacks:
So, moving on to the rear. My truck came with the Bling TRD exhaust that kept hangin on obstacles when I went wheeling. I decided to fix that and keep the bling TRD tip. This mod also helped make room for storing my full size 285/70 under the bed of the truck. This pic is before I hammered down the tire supports under the bed. I also cut the rear exhaust bracket off that is pictured.
On to my latest mod: an Armortech High Clearance Rear Bumper
I love this bumper. Kevin is a great guy to do business with; I would recommend him to anyone.
It was kinda hard cuttin up a new truck; I got over it pretty quickly. The install took about 4 hrs(it should have only been 2 due to using an underpowered compressor) I needed a new rear bumper due to awheeling trip that I took to Hot Springs (Superlift ORV) in June
Kevin sent an insert for the 2in receiver for my license plate that had a trick LED light attached to keep it legal on the road. It has a quick disconnect for easy detachement.
Some wheeling pics at Hot Springs
some of the rigs that showed up
more wheeling
Some from Spring Creek when it was still open
Here is pretty sweet jump I stretched out the Kings a little bit
Got rid of the AAL in the rear. Replaced with some AllPro (I know) 3" spring packs
I wore out my first set of KM2's so I ordered another set last November
I added a Console Vault which was a very nice gift from my GF at the time (now my fiance)
It keeps the ol 1911 safe and sound
Here is the Tacoma loded up for the Frio river last summer
Opening weekend of dove season 2009
Here is my latest endeavor: Putting the Boom in the BoomTaco:
100 Amp Stinger ciruit breaker and 0 ga power cable
Alpine Type R components and 2way coaxes for the rear
More stinger power distribution stuff
Rammat sound deadening
Thats pretty much where I am as of today
