What have you done to your ride lately?

9 hours is probably accurate. Would fixing the issue be an option instead of a full swap?
I have been trying off and on for over a year to fix the issue. Can’t figure it out and neither could the dealership nor a Toyota specialty shop I took it to. Toyota’s fix was “replace transfer case” and so I figured I would try that first, then the 4x4 computer

Toyota dealership is quoting 9 hours of shop time to swap my transfer case....$1635. 9 hours seems excessive to me, what do y'all think?

Remember that's the book time, they probably use the slowest most retarded mechanic to time that. It can't be that hard I've swapped out a full drivetrain in half that time. But if you want to pay it's not a horrible price, if they are quoting that the problem I'd expect them to keep shotgunning the parts on their dime if the t-case isn't the fix.

New drivers door actuator installed on the 4R. Kinda a pita to align up the new one with the key socket and the rod on the lever lock. Took about 30 to 40min. for everything.

On the smaller ZTR, it has "non serviceable" hydro motors because it's a residential model and the motors do not have drain plugs. You would have to split the motors or just use 100cc syringe to pull as much of the old oil out. It was not gear oil, so I used 15W-50 what my Gravely ZTR uses in its hydros. I measured what I pulled out and added about 30cc more back in. They do have overflow/vents on them.

There ya go, serviced a non serviceable motor, lol.

Has to replace both front door lock actuators on ours a few years ago. Nuts how the originals didn't last long.
Good to know, I wont spend the extra money next time for the oem part.

My Tacoma driver door power lock doesn’t work right. Sounds like a coffee grinder and doesn’t fully engage the lock….been like that for years. I need to replace it

My 4Runner door locks have issues during the summer on the hot days when sun is direct on one side. The shade side works fine while the sun side does not work at all. When the door cools off the locks work again. At some point I will replace them.

I was giving the 4Runner a look over this morning (first chance I have had in a while) and noticed the oil dipstick was stuck in the tube. So I had to get a pair of pliers and force it out. The bottom of the plastic piece with the o-ring sealed to the tube and broke off in the tube. Now I had to remove the dipstick tube and drill out the stuck plastic.

Front brake pads swapped out after work today. Bosch QC has dropped a bit since the last set a few years ago. I had to use a drill bit to remove the backing plate metal from covering the alignment pin hole. I did not realize this was an issue until I was putting the first side back together and trying to figure out why I could not get the pin into the inside mounting hole.

Why Bosch?? Why? Now I am just hoping the pads hold up as well as they did last time. I have been towing a lot the last 6 months so I am not upset with the performance for quiet pads.

Two and a half weeks later, I finally got the call that my truck is ready. Dropped it off on the 14th. Was supposed to be there for 4-5 days for a TSB software update. Was 14 days before they even pulled it into the shop and another few days to do the software update and diagnose if there were any other issues. Luckily it just needed the update. Will be glad to not be driving the Sequoia anymore.

Are you still driving the Ford? That sounds like Ford service....

No I got rid of that hunk of shit back in February. I’ve got a Chevy now. There service department is just as slow as Ford. Hopefully I won’t be there as often as I was with the Ford though.

Firmware and software updates is just one of many reasons not to buy a new car. You’re stuck to rely on the dealer for everything and the scan tool won’t hardly help these days.

It is a matter of time. Probably the first and last new car I will ever get, had a bug up my ass to get it. I’m fine with my 20 year old clunkers, they ain’t much to look at but they get the job done.

Speaking of scan tools. So the wifes Volvo had a hidden code when I went to get the front windshield replaced. Guy said it was throwing a camera heater code. Total bullshit as the car has no lights on and never an issue with any camera. Anyhow, dude would not replace the glass until I got the codes cleared. Anyhow, I used a normal $20 bluetooth scantool with a phone app and it didn't find shit. But then I spent a little more and bought this one.
Man it works awesome... it found all the various computers and I did see the code. I highly recommend it. I just reset the code and fixed it.

Swapped out my OEM battery for a Lithium one. Not a huge weight savings over stock, but still a savings and every oz counts on a motorcycle. This think spins the engine over way faster then the stock one ever did too. Guess I'll have to wait to see how it does in cooler/cold weather, but so far so go. Suppose to go for a ride tomorrow with my son, so I guess I'll get to test it out.our.
