Did these soften your ride any? My coworker is looking for a way to smooth up his pickup. I'm thinking his problem is a mix of maxed out torsion bars that are worn out with shitty shocks.

Downy doesn't sell them anymore, but you can get the same thickness of bars elsewhere. They will make the ride stiffer though. Start with shocks to smooth out the ride

I'd start by decranking the bars all the way anything with the torsion bars cranked all the way is going to ride like ass. The stockers are going to be the softest spring rate and torsion bars don't generally wear out like springs do.

I would crank them down some and replace the shocks first, that should be fine for the street. If the truck has a tire larerthan a 31, especially if they are wide then some heavier torsion bars would help alot off road. I believe mine are 26mm and even at the lowest I can set them they lifted the truck just under an inch. They do ride a little stiff on the road but they are great off road.

They wil get tired if you wheel with oversized tires with them cranked up.

Bump fo some progress bro! I have that IFS box if you still need it

Thanks Chris, I really do need a steering box, hate to take your spare though. Let me dig around in the local salvage yards and if that doesnt pan out then Ill hit you up. I was considering rebuilding mine but from what I have read its a total PITA. Ill let you know soon if I can find one or not.

Progress is coming! I have a few parts and planning to order some more this week. I am going to try to get the rear suspension to work like it should. I finally have a nice set of springs to put in and I am going to play around with shock mounts & bump stops untill Im happy with it.

Nothing much has been going on here. I took the 4runner to Gilmer a couple weeks ago and broke something in my rear diff, not sure what and haven't pulled the 3rd out yet to see. Something with the steering got bent out of whack also and I haven't looked into that either. I trailered it 4 hours and only got to wheel for 3. :o I still have transmission problems & other drivability issues that are keeping me from being able to drive it on the street. So much is wrong with this rig that with the budget I have to work with I don't see it being worth fixing, certainly not worth spending the money to SAS. Don't get me wrong, I would love to keep building this rig but it has been stagnant for way too long and I have decided to pull the plug. I am going to start stripping the good parts this weekend, some will be sold but most will be saved for my next project, the rest will be run across the scales.

I already picked up another project 4runner and can't wait to dive into it. I am going to go a slightly different direction with this one, Ill get some pics this weekend and post up the build plan once I have one.

That sucks Rob but I understand...GL with the next one

The next one will be an upgrade, I have enjoyed this runner but this is not a sad day.

We will see how it goes, I need to dive inbefore I can commit either way.

Its pretty well beat. I have some good pieces but its been crashed, flopped and welded back together a few times. What do you need? I have 5 fenders, several doors, and a few good body panels. I have a TON of first gen parts and would be happy to give away alot of it to a good home. Im low on shop space.
