Any reason or just personal experience?

Extremely erratic unpredictable load behavior. Not to mention if you tear up a ring and pinion you still have to repair it before you can drive tow it home.

Understand both points. I grew up pulling trailers so I understand that anything you pull can get wild and put you in a ditch. As for tearing out a ring and pinion - the few times that will happen will defintently be less than the successful trips to and from the rocks and mud.
