I can tell you there is shit for cell signal out there. LOL. So download offline maps if that is the route.
100% there is crap service out there. I am buying a Garmin InReach as soon as I can catch one in stock for that reason. I have been out on some ADV bike rides and keep catching myself in less and less cell coverage.

Even with my WeeBoost I had jack-shit.

Lets take a poll on weekends. April 18th or April 25th weekend look to be the most likely for this. We can work out location later.

Looking at the BDR route for the hill country, some state parks for camping would probably be Colorado Bend, Enchanted Rock, Devil's Sinkhole, and South Llano River state park.

If the goal is to camp at state parks then we need to get reservations asap. They fill up fast.

Around Llano there is Llano Ranch Campground that @SecretSquirrel has stayed at before. It is primitive camping but not a state park (or the rules).

Primitive is fine. We are all pretty self sufficient and can figure out things. Just need this list.

Camp fire
Chair
Beer
Nalgen bottle
Dry ice
Pocket knife

I borrow one from a friend when I go remote. Great to have in your back pocket if shit hits the fan, although I have never actually had to use it. iPhone satellite messaging isn’t quite reliable enough for me to leave the Garmin behind yet.

April 25 weekend would be better for me. The 18 is my anniversary and, as nice as y'all are, I don’t think my other half would want to spend our anniversary in a tent camping with you dudes. Haha. The first couple years we spent it camping at LJT music festival, but I think I enjoyed that more than she did.

I spent my 10 year anniversary with the Sammich Maker when we did the Ozarks trip years ago.

Better explained// I have been there and do not recommend it.

First post updated with April 25th weekend as the time this is now planned for.
I have never explored a lot of that hill country route so that has my vote.
2nd vote is for Ozarks.

I told my kid about it. I told her she could drive her Jeep and tag along. She is in.

Dude... last camping trip we had her along she was barely big enough to see over the steering wheel. Now driving her own rig on a trip!?!?!
