Got a little range time with the 6.8 this morning. Put about 20 rounds through it getting it dialed in for this weekend. Man it's a sweet shooting gun. Just loud as fuck.

Had plugs and muffs at the range. I just always forget to put in hearing protection when out hunting and have ringing ears for a couple hours after shooting it.

I've done that before too. That's why I have a pair of plugs in my hunting/shooting bag. I have an old Eastpak backpack from HS that is a dark olive green color. I keep my hunting license, cleaning knives, ear plugs, toilet paper, CLP, etc. in that backpack.

Get ready for some growth Georgia. Now they just need to get back to making better quality firearms like the old 870 and 700.

I thought Remington went bankrupt? How can they afford that?
The ammo part got bought by one company and the firearms part got bought by another company IIRC.

I took a class last year and shot only Remington 9mm 124gr ammo (I got it for free) and man that was some of the most accurate training ammo I've ever shot.

Years ago, when I got my first 9mm, I bought a box of that Remington UMC value pack ammo and to date is the only ammo that has jammed in that gun. I was still new to the game, so it could have been that I just didn't clean it properly, but I'm pretty sure it was some of the dirtiest ammo that I've ever shot.

I do like them in general though. Until I started reloading, I've only shot CoreLokt rounds through the hunting rifles. Well, except for when I did Hornady in my wife's .270.

My Remington 700 is from 2005. It came with the crappy J-lock in the bolt; but other than that it has been a good enough rifle. I have an 870 from the early 90s that has been a great shotgun. I have shot skeet, ducks, and one truck with it.

That said; I have not bought another Remington firearm.

I looked at them for a rifle when I was first interested in hunting. I talked to my uncle, who advised me against the cheap one that came with a scope that I was looking at. I didn't want to fork out the money they were asking for the "good" ones. I did by an 870 shotgun that has been solid. I have no idea where the j-key is....I pretty much unlocked it and promptly lost that key.

I eventually replaced the J lock bolt with a Pacific Tool and Gauge aluminum setup to drop weight and reduce lock time. I have been happy with the change but for general use it would be tough to tell.

On this rifle thr only Remington parts still are the bolt body and action. Everything else has been upgraded.

That's Mr Asshole to you
Picked up another Ruger m77 the other day. This one is a gift to my older brother. Older m77 with the tang safety and either an aftermarket trigger or had some work done to it, because its very nice. 7mag. Got it from an older guy at my gun club and he ust to shoot silhouette with it. Got a box of 50 hand loads with recipe and crono data. I almost want to keep it but I already one. Will shoot and sight in this Saturday

Helluva nice gift!
He has footed the bill for some fishing and hunting trips. Not that I asked him to, but he planned it and then invited me after it was on the books. Done a few things I would not normally get to do. He has been wanting a 7mag so I have been keeping my eyes open for one. Hoping he goes to the deer lease this weekend and I can surprise him with it ready to take to the field Sunday morning for its first harvest.

Had some talking guns going yesterday with a Vietnam M60 and a 1919. The thump off that 1919 in 30-06 was impressive. I have shot some 1919s before but they were rechambered into cheaper ammo. This one gave me a new respect for the platform.
