Going to be good times soon; but I had to make an adjustment to my plan. First - picking up my suppressor next week. It will be nice to have it home. Second - my Pulsar thermal was delayed shipment yet again so I bought an AGM Rattler TS35. It will be here on Tuesday. I will see when the Pulsar gets here if I want to buy it or not. I am happy to have a thermal that will be here in time to take it to the hunting field with the suppressor.

And of course work has me traveling soon again.

Couple quick pictures from the backyard while learning the system and buttons. It will need an adapter to make the adjustment ring easier to use. Right now it is not bad but on a rifle I bet it is a trick to use.

Everything is still kind of warm from the sun just starting to go down. White is hot.

Minimum zoom at 2.14

One step up. There are two more zoom levels but holding the thermal by hand I was not steady enough for it to focus properly.

So I went out at 11p last night to try it out some more. This is so much better than the thermal brick I was issued in the Marine Corps in 2004 lol

End of the street is ~175 yards out.

For scale I had to back off about 75 feet to get the entire 4Runner in the frame.

Construction stuff about 60 yards away from my back porch where there is a new house being built.

The setup for now.

And some field pics. The thermal fog in the brushy areas was impressive. Once we went to an open pasture the thermal really impressed. It was easy to spot and identify a rabbit at 100 yards. Jack rabbits even further thanks to those huge ears.

Hit up a couple guys that have used thermals for gov work. They said moisture and dust suspended in brush can cut the visible range of a thermal real fast. Considering how dry the area is and all the dust I have to say I have observed that lesson.

Fucking badass. What caliber is that setup? 6.5?

This is my 6.5 Grendel setup. The upper and barrel are from a build a few years ago. The barrel & bolt are JP Enterprise and the upper receiver is V Seven.

I am probably going to but a complete Grendel rifle for setting up as a dedicated thermal rifle. The thermal scope is not a sub-moa optic so it is kind of wasting some of the potential of the barrel.

Nice setup, how many yards were you from that feeder?

How was it sighting that scope in during the day?

I probably need to get scope like that, sleeping is overrated anyways. lol

This setup is 50 yards to the feeder.

Sighting in during the day was not horrible. I used the tin foil method but did not have the target in the sun since it was morning. I am going to refine the zero in the afternoon so it is dialed in better.

A thermal scope is pretty nice; but for the trees and vegetation a good night vision with IR light would do the same. The thermal really stands out at distance.

I ordered and installed the new Emissary Development extended toggle switches for my TLR-7A light. Easy to install (just don't lose the little orange plastic square). It's easier to switch on the light now and has a nice resting place for my left thumb when I know I'm going to use the light.

I went to MiwayUSA this morning to check something else and had a notice the items my cart had a price change. The barrel, BCG, and magazines for an AK upper for an AR had dropped almost $50 to under $200. The parts should be here next week. Time for a 10" SBR in 7.62x39 for range blasting / truck gun

Dangit... I just went and looked. I have the TLR-7, not the 7A. I don't think they will work on mine. Different on/off switch. Bummer. Might have to just get a new one. I do like those switches better.

Yeah the TLR-7A is relatively inexpensive for how much light you get. I've been impressed with the light output from mine and love the switches.
