He could of just had it all delivered for $35 or $79 and saved himself some cash I bet. I used to spend hrs picking wood and then triple handling all the materials. If you make $20 an hr and spend 4hrs getting materials you break even. Make more and lose money. Paying the union $750 per man day for our guys we need to be efficient. If any of my guys are picking up materials it's a young "driver" who isn't union and isn't getting paid all that much and they are just as bad as the people at HD picking the orders for us so.... .

A few years ago I started applying this line of thought to my activities to help decide what I should do vs should pay to do. The same could be said for buying in person vs online. I still purchase from the same company; just do it online and pay shipping vs spending my time & gas to go pick it up in person. I also find it is easier to control impulse spending this way too.
