Cool, let me know if you like them. I think you can order without the motion sensor and just plug and unplug them as well if you wanted that option. I liked the motion sensor for this location because I figured my hands would be dirty or greasy when using the sink.

Added a power strip to the work bench area. Can never have too many outlets.

My dad put a smaller power strip on a timer and he has his battery chargers plugged into it. This way its only charging the batteries for an hour or so. Not all day long if you leave it on there.

Yes, please don't leave your chargers on all day with a battery. I've seen a charger catch fire in person and it's insane how quick it was burning.

Although my neighbor came close to burning my shop down, idiot lit fireworks on his lot right at the edge next to my garage. He’s got close to 2 acres. I went over there to give him an earful, even worse is he’s a volunteer firefighter for out town. Guess the training is lacking here.

Ordered a 14k BTU AC unit, I'm sure it won't "cool" the garage down but if it knocks down the humidity and cools it a few degrees it will be tolerable to finish the wheel bearings in 105 heat index type of weather. Should be here Saturday :)

Is your garage door insulated? I have one garage with an insulated door and one without. The difference is noticeable between the two garages.

yes all of them are, I believe they are R9. I agree, it’s a major difference. I actually added insulation to the garage door attached for my house, more for the cold than the heat.

Wish I had more windows in my garage... only have one and it faces the street. But I need some HVAC out there.. its too the point I gave up. I just decided to stay indoors this summer.

im glad I decided to put in two windows when building the shop, even though I rarely use them. I really like this AC setup I can break down the window mount in about 30 seconds and close and lock it. Time will tell how effective it is, about 1.2 tons in a pretty large space. It sure is nice standing in front of it and letting the cold air go up the shirt lol

It was unbearable with the humidity for me to work out here otherwise, now I’m at 50% humidity in here consistently and we’ll see how it does to bring the temps down.

My garage isn't insulated and it is on the West side of the house. It heats up and the room above it is easily 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. There's a small attic above the garage door and I'm sort of considering putting an exhaust fan in there. Wondering if I could pull some of the hot air out of the garage if it would help the temps in the garage and the room above.

@CowboyTaco can you get some insulation in the space between the room and garage? I would start there. Also insulate the garage door to help knock down heat into the garage.

Not really. At least not without removing the drywall.

As I understand it, GA code does not require insulation for non-living space, so the space between the exterior of the home and the inside of the garage is uninsulated. Additionally, since the garage isn't considered exterior space, they aren't required to insulate between the garage and the interior walls. I could be wrong, but I don't think there is insulation anywhere around my garage.

Insulating the garage door would be the easiest step to take; but it is in the shade most of the day, so I'm not sure what true benefit it would have. My neighbor said that insulating his garage door made a huge difference, but his door is in the sun most of the day.
