Trying to. Nobody is interested though and I am shocked. I have never had issues selling older high mileage Toyotas before

I have even toyed with the idea of cutting my losses and just selling the Dodge and keeping the Tundra if I can’t sell it for anything reasonable. Don’t want to do that though, because the Ram is so much nicer. Pro/con list of the two vehicles puts everything in favor of the Ram with exception of physical size and complexity/reliability concerns. Although I will say that most reliability issues I’ve seen online seem to come from people trying to cheap out on maintenance or abusing their trucks. Seems if you take care of it, it’ll take care of you for the most part.

On my Honda I left the front splash shield off after the clutch job to make sure no leaks and check everything was ok for the first few hundred miles. Well turns out that splash shield also keeps the wheel well liners somewhat rigid and clipped in, and during a real windy day going over the delaware memorial bridge my passenger liner folded backwards and I ran it over ripping half of it off
Ordered a new one and reinstalled the splash shield, was noted that I was also missing other plastic push pin clips on the bumper that I'll need to replace but at least the engine splash shield and wheel well liner is back on with all this snow and shit weather we got.
Oh and I also picked up the Horrible freight welding cart with a 20% off coupon, I'll assemble that some time this week.

I try to keep up with it the best I can. For a daily driver I tend to neglect things like car washes and waxes but for a going on 12 year old car it’s pretty clean I did notice a small amount of rust bubbling on the rear rocker panels but I sit in the front so I’m not too worried about it

I joined a 1st gen Tacoma Facebook group and it has made me paranoid about LBJ failures. Went ahead and replaced them yesterday before taking the Tacoma to Big Bend today.
Yeah it's a pretty bad failure point. Looks like it was getting close to needing replaced anyways.

It's the bolts shearing that fail. I never had an issue until I replaced my LBJs. Then I had my bolts shear. Luckily it was at 3mph on a trail and not going down the highway. That was with OEM LBJs and bolts torqued to FSM specs. It's just a poorly designed part of the suspension.

Replaced the squeaky blower motor in the Tacoma and got the oil changed in the Tacoma (150k) and in the Sorento (55k). Trying to get everything caught up on maintenance before I work pretty much 7 days a week for the first half of 2026. Have the Sorento scheduled for rotation, balance, and alignment on Monday and the Tacoma for rotation and balance on Tuesday. Need to do spark plugs on the Tacoma as well. I had some I ordered when I bought the truck but who knows where they're at at this point. I'll order some more so I can find the ones I already have.

Got back from the trip. We hit Big Bend National Park, Saguaro National Park, Pima Air & Space Museum, White Sands National Park, and did some wheeling in the national forest outside Tuscon. The 4x4 trail in BBNP was closed, which was a bummer but we made up for it in Tuscon. My girlfriend’s sister and bro in law came with us and they brought their Rubicon on 37s. My Tacoma held its own and kept up remarkably well, just with a little more armor activation. I managed to loosen one of the alignment cams on the trail and that was pretty scary until I could figure out what happened and how to make the vehicle safe to drive to an alignment shop. It felt like the right wheel was the only one steering the truck and the left one was just out to lunch. I think I probably screwed up a tie rod too, because even after getting aligned before driving home, it still doesn’t drive great and it pulls when braking. I need to get it up in the air and check it out, but right now I need some TLC myself. It seems I came home with the flu.

That is a solid trip! Time for some TLC and upgrades on the Taco.

It was a lot of fun, minus the 15hr drive back to home with feeling awful. I liked Big Bend way more than I was imagining I would. Now I want to go back and see what the state park has to offer. We didn’t have enough time to hit both on this trip. The gang with the Jeep continued on to Death Valley after we parted ways on Christmas Eve. They are doing a 2-week trip but we only made time for the first half.
BBRSP is great, the Sammich Maker and I were talking about getting back out there soon. Death Valley is also very awesome and worth the trip. Thanks to TacoXpo showing us around the Death Valley BLM lands it was impressive.
