How long will Balakay keep his "new to him" Lexus?

So what kind of gas mileage does this thing get? 20 highway? The wifes 08 4Runner with V8 got 20-21 and I'm guessing its damn near the same.

I've ran two full tanks through it so far. Both were about 50/50 city/highway and I got about 16.5 mpg which is about what I expected for a V8 with full time 4wd. But I haven't really been trying to get mileage out of it. I might try the next tank and see what I can do. Interested to see what the mileage will be with the new tires. They're still at 50psi or whatever ridiculiys pressure discount filled them up to.

I'm sure I could get close to 20 if I tried. It's not unheard of in these trucks. But I drive so little now, I'm honestly not worried about it. I'm at less than a tank a week now compared to the 2-2.5 tanks a week I was doing previously.

Can you convert to part time 4WD? I think Drew converted his Lexus...when he had it

My son is 21, he bought a 2000 Corolla when he turned 17.. drove it for a year and it had a catastrophic oil leak and it blew up on him. I want to say the rear main seal blew out on the highway and it just took the engine out within 10-15 minutes. SO he bought a 2003 Ford Taurus and he still drives that thing. He is content with it.. its clean that's about all I can say for it. He said after he graduates college he might buy something else. I sometimes wonder if he really is my kid. lol
I have a friend that just turned 300,000 miles. So, it may actually be a Toyota! That would mean the blood is thinker than antifreeze.

From what I've read, no. You can disconnect the front drive shaft to simulate it and a few people have done tests and said that there's really no gain in mileage. But those are the guys that are getting 18-20 stock. It might would help a bit for me, idk.

I was getting 17 mpg in the TRD Pro Toyota allowed me to use. :) And that was normal driving.

I would think it could be done, all you'd need is an A750 compatible part time case and either cut a hole for the shifter or run an electric actuator to a DPDT switch. However this leaves the problem of the front diff always engaged, while I'm sure it uses a standard 8" or 7.5" clamshell the stub shaft is likely different
