Was a good day yesterday. I need to trim and clean up some video before sharing. Good times though.
Nice fireball caught on camera. The frame rate timed up nicely.

Still did not bring it home. The only part that was fun about it is a part I cannot have.

Not particularly noteworthy, but relevant to this thread. I bought a membership to the local range.
The targets that I typically use aren't large enough, so I found some on Amazon that fit the bill for about $.38 per target. The range has a minimum size target of 19x23 I think and sell targets for $1.50 each.
I just need to go 5 more times and my membership will pay for itself. Shouldn't be a problem.

In the past, I've bought bulk paper targets and card board silhouettes offline (I usually split the order and shipping cost with my buddy). But now I'm to the point that I print off targets I find for free on the work printer and just use those. I'll print out 8.5"x11" and 11"x17" and just tape those on cardboard amazon boxes.

eBay came through today for being useful to pick up a couple of Tikka magazines a bit cheaper than retail. I saved about $20 plus s/h on these two magazines. One is a factory 3 round and the other is the optional 5 round.

Replaced the sear in my M&P Shield40 yesterday. The pull weight on it before was about 6.5lbs. That doesn't sound like much, but it was not smooth and felt like I was hitting a wall that would just suddenly break. That movement was causing me to jerk the gun a little. After pulling out the old sear, I can see exactly what I was feeling.
The top one is the factory sear. You can see the "wall" with the rounded curve as opposed to the gradual ramp that is present on the Apex.
Dry fire exercises seem MUCH improved. Now to get by the range and see if that translates to tighter groupings on paper.
Fully Machined Sear - fits most M&P pistols....Shield (gen 1 and 2), Shield 45, M&P 2.0 for sure. Ordering direct from Apex was cheaper than any other site due to the free shipping and no tax. Ebay had it for cheaper, but charged tax. Other sites I checked either had tax or shipping (some both). At this point, I'm considering it $40 well spent.

Did some scouting and tried out a new spot on the field. The wind kept everything but the birds and a few bugs away.
But the scouting was good. Always a good sign when the pig has to get on it's knees to crawl under a fence.
And finally some confirmation on cats out there. Now to get some trails the 4Runner can cover so we can get a dropped boar back out.

Trijicon - most expensive
Tru-Glo - least expensive, 12 yr warranty
Night Fision - seem to be a newer company with a good reputation and a 16 year warranty. The middle ground on cost.

Are these the only sighting system on the pistol?- Go with Trijicon's
No red dot?- Go with Trijicon's
Is this on your carry pistol?- Go with Trijicon's.
If not, then they are just a backup and you can go with a cheaper option.

M&P shield. There are several options. I've been planning on doing the trijicons for a bit, but they are the most expensive option.
I'm not planning on having the slide milled for a RDO. Though I have seen the Leupold micro dot in person and it is pretty sweet.
Yes, this is the carry piece. That is primarily why I want better sight picture for low light scenarios. It isn't always a picture perfect and well lit area.

Everyone's situation is different but honestly if I can't spend $125 on night sights, I probably can't afford to spend $75 on night sights either. There's a reason Trijicon has the reputation it has. Just make sure to buy them form a reputable dealer, not from Amazon.

I'm just recommending the Trijicons for the durability to withstand daily carry. I have a couple sets of their suppressor height night sights on my Glocks but I'd never want to have to shoot them in the dark.
And you need to pick up a weapon light for your pistol as well for that exact reason. You have to be able to identify what you're shooting at, you definitely don't want to aim a loaded pistol at a dark target that you aren't sure about.
