Starting a straight day position at work at the end of the month. Almost 13 years of being on swing shifts. Going to be a weird change but I think it will be worth it in the long run. As long as my paycheck doesn’t drop too much.
Luckily that’s not too much of an issue where I’m at. Definitely some bullshit every now and then but for the most part we are left alone. Otherwise I wouldn’t have even considered it. Now when my boss retires in a couple of years, things may change. Depending on who takes his position I may go back to shifts or even be looking at moving companies.you’re sleep schedule will thank you. But good luck dealing with all the moron day walkers at work. That has been my number 1 deterrent of going back to a day position.
This ^Start telling them now that you want to move up, what do you need to do.
I'm in the same boat. When my boss retires, I'll be here to watch it all burn down and then move on when they either sub our jobs out to a low bidder or have a management company take us over. I would try to go for my bosses position but they require a graduate degree for it now (it wasn't a requirement in the past) and I just don't have the time or the money to go back to college to get one.Luckily that’s not too much of an issue where I’m at. Yeah the biggest hold back for me taking my boss’s job is that you have to be a yes man and never get to have an opinion of your own. You just have to bow down to the overlords and if you don’t, they’ll find someone who does.I'm in the same boat. Fuck watching it burn down, I'll just read about it. I can retire from here in 8 years and thats exactly wtf I'm doing. I'll get a part time job stacking beef jerky at Buc-ees in MadisonvilleI'm in the same boat. I worked almost no over time other than my scheduled 8 hrs per check and our 14 day outage. Outside of that, I think I worked maybe 60 hours or so. Not having Sunday premium is where I’m going to see the biggest hit from going days.you’re lucky then, idiocracy runs rampant here and it’s only getting worse. I plan to ride the next few years out on shift and see where the cards fall, depending on who’s in upper management might dictate my future at this place, but I can’t complain about the money here for now anyway that’s for sure. I do miss having a weekend off on the actual weekend. And then if you pick up overtime days the benefits of the longer breaks off have been eroded, I did 1200 hours of OT last year so I feel like I blinked and 2023 was up and gone![]()
I'm hoping by the time my boss retires, my wife's business will have hired more associates and then I won't really have to worry about finding another job at that point. I'll just go work at a gun store and be a dick behind the counterFuck watching it burn down, I'll just read about it. I can retire from here in 8 years and thats exactly wtf I'm doing.
