My parents have it and the wife got to use it back in July. It seemed ok but not as nice as a Direct TV or Dish layout for sure.
Yeah my mom is too used to Comcast's layout and is too stubborn to learn a new layout lol oh well

Yeah I worked outside yesterday for 3 hours so I was soaking wet with sweat. I went home and showered, sat down on the couch and couldn't stop sweating for a bit. It's too damn hot.

Yeah it's hot, it's been really humid til about noon here, depending on how much sea fog rolls in. This week needs to hurry up and pass! Drink lots of water!

I'm gonna top off wildlife waterers today.
And prep a bit for the upcoming dove season. I shredded a few passes/lanes in the open areas, the doves love this. Next week I will do an observation, count, flight path etc. and make another round of a fresh cut.

Gotta a nice spot 70ft from the shop with a large oak tree and a few mesquites for morning & evening shade hunts. Gonna clear out the brush around this oak tree, great spot to park the smoker.

Went to the Dr this morning, routine shit. While I was waiting in the lobby some old dude and his wife come in and sit rather close. Fucker is slurping on his starbucks fagachino or whatever, trying to get the last drop of jizz out of the bottom of the cup. Took everything not to shove the fucking straw down his fucking throat.

I've been working late in the garage due to the heat. I'm sure my neighbors love it when I fire up the grinder at 11pm. At least the temps are down to the mid to low 90s. Red truck 2 is getting close to driving under its own power.

Love those 5am meetings. Of course these happen on the days I am booked up to 4p.

Atleast your commute to work didn't have problems that I experienced. 30 min. worth of traffic!!
I ran into an area with a bunch young Texas Horned lizzards! Then the damn cows showed up. Once I cleared the area with about dozen babies, I was able to get the tractor moved out of the area. No critters were harmed and I enjoyed every minute of it, definitely made my day seeing so many of them. Gonna avoid that area, Google maps sucks, didn't warn me about the traffic situation.

Have you talked to the ag agent about some sort of state grant for land protection for the horned lizard? I know there are multiple zoos doing breeding projects to help restore the wild populations.

Would be awesome to help be part of that restoration plan. Plus the state helping cover costs for habitat reconstruction.

I've been thinking of converting the land use over to conservation, but that requires annual paperwork and surveys, not required to do any of that under Ag use.

That's Mr Asshole to you
Ag exemption and wildlife exemption are the same tax deduction each year. The surveys and things we have had to do for the wildlife exemption are not too hard or time consuming at all. The county biologist was great to talk with when moving from ag to wildlife exemption.

Not having to run a minimum head of cattle can be a significant cost and time savings though

Did you convert all the land over to wildlife?

My dad has his place under wildlife exemption because he did not want any livestock on the place. The upkeep on the exemption has not been bad.

On my phone...

Are there other benefits and tax reductions or payments?

"Thinking"
I kinda brushed that thought, the TPWD forms are quite easy etc. I actually fill them out for others all the time, that was just the tip of an iceberg. My situation is a bit more involved.

Sure did. Blue bird houses, maintain cover for bedding, game cameras for survey, protein feeder, water, preditor sightings, and log of game taken.

Ok.

What some Biologists don't know, can put a farmer/rancher/land owner in trouble.
Please take note to this information, not that it may/may not apply.

I'm gonna just touch on the subjects below, lightly. If you/anyone else has questions, please feel to call me for indepth discussion, this topic can be very lengthy and everyones land use and tax situation, goals are different. I too was a Biologist for about 5 years and in my spare, spare, spare limited time, lol, I'm also an Ag business consultant.

If land owner decides to convert all property over to wildlife, the land owner technically can Not use the retail sales tax exemption under the Texas Agricultural and Timber Form 01-924.
All the land converted to wildlife is not eligible for retail sales tax exemption. So if the wildlife exempt land owner wants to buy a new tractor or side by side, guess what?, they should pay the sales tax or risk getting audited/fined/jailed.

Conservation efforts are not covered.
"I understand that by signing this application, I am certifying that I am engaged in the production of agriculture and/or timber products for sale." So, please consult with your CPA.

If all the land is under wildlife, I would recommend a yearly /muti year written cattle lease with a neighbor. A sizable track of land 100 acres or more, should include grazing into wildlife mgt plan. The grazing method should be high intensity, low frequency. Meaning lots of cows grazing for a short period of time, especially not during hunting season, lol. Having a cattle lease, puts the land owner into a business, which will allow use of the retail tax exemption, to maintain the land. Fo free, I can help anyone out with the lease contacts etc. I also recommend having 3rd parties, sign a release of liability.

Other exemptions like Farm Diesel, Red Dye Diesel is not effected, if no cattle lease. "Wildlife management is agricultural use as defined by the Texas Tax Code, 23.51(7). "

There is way more to it than you realize. Time; yes, most definitely. "Opportunity costs" absolutely I could make more runs to the coast and fish!
Savings; no, my last years tax rate was a big whopping 12%!!

Conservation/USDA/FSA etc. Grants; they are considered income, I received my last grant payment last year for land clearing of invasive species.

Just one example; A skidsteer on the IRS schedule F, bought tax free and last year that skid was a $15k tax deduction(off the gross income for 5 years depreciation).

^^^X2. The biologist that my former coworker dealt with on his property was an asshole with no empathy. It's too much to go into but he had my coworker pulling out his hair over stupid bullshit and my coworker eventually had to pay fines for some stuff I'm not gonna disclose on the internet.
