What have you done to your ride lately?

While I agree, clean ones are priced like a collector car, and there are not many I would consider.

Yeah. You can get an older 2nd gen for the same price as a higher mileage 1st gen. Plus, 2nd gen still has the roll down rear window. Also, pretty sure the 1st gen frames had rust issues (doh!). Probably 2nd gen too, but I haven't heard of any 2nd gens with the frame rot issue.

So I finally swapped out the rear u-joint on my 4Runner that I should have done a few months ago. I was really concerned because it was just so easy to swap out. The test drive went good so I guess I am getting too much practice at this.

Driving into work this morning I get the low air pressure light, figured I had a slow leak and maybe had a nail or screw in the tire...20 minutes down the road the car is about pulling off the side of the road and tire almost completely flat. I got into a covered rest stop (of course it was pouring), swapped on my spare tire.

Found this thing had punctured through the tire and was clanging around inside and made little marks all on the inside of the rim and turned the inside of the tire to dusty crumbles. $300 later and I got a new tire mounted/balanced after work.

for real, the guy at the tire shop had no clue what it was, i did the google lens try and all it gave me was bullets lol

I wish I knew the douchnozzle that had these on his car, I'd have driven there and thrown my wheel through his window, just crazy how that could pierce a goddamn tire!

I don’t have the pictures anymore. They’re probably posted on here somehwere though. Back in 2020 (I think) my wife had a flat tire. I swapped the spare on and took it to Discount Tire and they found 3/4 of a pair of needle nose pliers in it. It was impressive to say the least.

Holy sheet! must have just hit at the right angle to get them to pierce the tire. that must have been one hell of a hole it left in the tread.

Outside of the tire, you could barely see where it went in. Inside looked like the exit wound of a 330 Win Mag shooting a house cat. It was impressive.

Picked it up from the dealership this morning. Then hooked up my Bluetooth OBD2 scanner and used the Carista app to deactivate the seatbelt chimes and the stupid fake engine noise it pumps into the cab lol

Also changed a bunch of settings with the lights and blinkers and adjusted the offset on the t-stat setting -2c.

I saw a new a new Tundra last night. They seem small... I'd like to see one sitting next to a 2022 model. Just seemed like it was not much bigger than a Tacoma.. I had to take a doubletake on the tailgate to make sure it read Tundra.

Drive one. They are not small when trying to drive with all the blind spots.

Yeah the hood on this is a huge blind spot for sure. Good thing it has all the built in warning bs and on this one it has a forward facing camera for off-road. I have not tried it yet, but it may work in 2wd to help park. The interior up front is damn roomy and comfortable. 2nd row I can fit, but no head room. I'm not even going to attempt 3rd row. The stupid battery bs is mounted under 3rd row so it jacks the seats up and does not allow 2nd row to slide back. 3rd row is for kids only. The storage in the rear is nonexistent if the 3rd row is up. If you flip the seat down (electronic) and slid them forward it opens up pretty decent, but it still raised up and you have to move a little shelf up to level the entire back out.
I like it so far, and don't plan on using the 3rd row much so I'm leaving the seats folded down.
I managed 19mpg at 70 on the way home and it was still climbing when I turned onto my road. So mpg on long distance might be decent. It damn sure has plenty of get up and go.

A expedition in Timberline trim should still be my personal pick, buy I'm not the one paying for it and a Toyota better then some pos GM or Ram lol

Went out and played around with the different 4x4 modes and tge off-road camera (works in 2wd too). Didn't test them at speed to see when they turned off.

So test drive after the axle swap went really well but a few things were noted. My sammich maker commented after 15 minutes of driving she did not feel sick while riding and reading. When the old axle was installed the rear end of the 4Runner would sway a bit between 10 and 30 mph; I kept thinking it was a bushing or loose control arm. Yesterday every bolt needed the impact to get loose.

Today the 4Runner rode smooth, stable, and cruised at 75 mph an easy 200 rpm lower than with the 4.30 gears. Now to get a locker back in the axle...
