More than likely the bottom bolt fell out awhile ago and the shock was suspended from the top bolt getting slammed into the dirt road on the gun range which caused it snap.

remember I had a shock bolt come out a few weeks later after we did the rear leafs on my truck many moons ago

But you just got those back on and you said you specifically remember torqueing it to spec. That shouldn't happen. I hope DSMS takes care of you.

I assume you've already checked all the other bolts?

FTFY.

The Tq specs are not very much, most importantly just use some loctite for insurance.

This has actually happened to quite a few people if you research it online. I was pretty surprised to say the least. It's happened to guys who were still running the stock suspension and hadn't installed a lift.

I checked to make sure nothing was loose but I am planning putting loctite on all the bolts again. The truck as been parked and I've been driving another vehicle until I can get to it. I just have too much work and other priorities at home right now. This has been a crazy busy September for me and October is looking to be the same.

I did not remember that. Good to know.

I need to give my suspension all a once over and retorque and loctite stuff. I'll add that in with the carrier bearing I've been putting off (I wish it was a two piece like other trucks) and fluid changes coming up in a few thousand miles.

Sucks about the bolt backing out. We here in the northeast never have that problem fortunately. Even if that nut came loose the shock should have had enough pressure on the bolt only to keep it in place. But stranger things have happened, hell I lost 4/6 of my lug nuts a few years back on a wheel and i know i torqued them lol

Yeajh, it was weird. But this is my only lost bolt in 13 years of owning this truck. Just wished that bolt was on a cheaper part lol

Do you still have that part # for the rear shock bolt somewhere? I can't find it online.

A lot of times I can get my local dealership to match the online price, or at least beat the online shipped price.

I got a lot of little things done to the truck this past week.

Washed and cleaned the interior for the first time in years lol I had a little helper this time! She did this all on her own at 18 months. She picked up the broom, put it in the wash bucket and then came over to start washing the truck with it!

Put in a Add-a-fuse and wired my voltage and transmission gauge to it so they come on when the truck is turned on.

Installed a HDMI to USB-C connector for my head-unit to work with my phone. Wired in the rear backup camera wire finally. Now I just need to find the time to install the front and rear camera's lol

Cleaned out and re-organized my pelican toolbox again…got rid of some stuff that I didn’t need to be carrying around all the time.

Got my new rear shock bolts in so I put on my old rear shock on the drivers-side while my other shock is getting repaired. I hope to have that shock back here in the next couple of weeks.

My phone mount broke so I made my own out some RAM components.
