I probably was over thinking. I had searched for 18mm drill bits with no success, so I went to the closest fraction I could find. 23/32 was slightly larger than 18mm and I found a bit on amazon for $15. Like I said, I probably thought too much into it lol

For future reference low range sells the 18mm bits, I still think its not necessary but whatever. I do like the upper shock mounts though mine are just bolted to some 5/8" bolts I welded onto the framework of my flatbed

Nice! Getting work done! Only a matter of time before you cut through the bed. I've been waiting for you to do that (and go LT too) lol

Here are most of the pictures I have from URE this past weekend. I stole a few from Steve and Homer :anon:

Met up with HomerTaco in PA on Thursday and then we made the trek down

9 hour ride with tube doors was a good time

Stopping halfway to camp out at lake chesdin campground in VA

Had a small hiccup with a CEL for random engine misfire on the way down so we stopped to check the spark plugs and coil packs and found no problems so after we reassembled there was no more issues, I'm hoping it was just a loose connection. Also while I pulled over my rear drivers side wheel fell off, all 6 lugnuts were gone and 2 studs were sheared off

I had torqued all the wheels at the same time so I'm not sure what caused this to happen as none of the other lug nuts were loose but we stopped at a local napa and pressed in 6 new wheel studs and borrowed some lugs from the spare tire carrier and other wheels and we were back on our way in less than an hour

We ran dutch john and a couple other trails Friday

New shock setup works perfect with 12" shocks, as the springs hit the bumpstops I have about 1/4" of shock shaft showing.

At the top of Dickie Bell we found this group of locals that had flipped over their UTV and were trying to flip it back over by hand. David and Lurry helped them out and flipped em back over in a few minutes with a snatch strap.

On Sunday before we headed out we hit up Rocky Mountain loop

Heading back up to the outpost to air up and head back home after a nice weekend!

Ant - My apologies. I accidentally deleted most of your text in the 2nd pic post when replying to the post from my phone. Got some help from someone on TW to send me a copy of what was on there to get it mostly fixed. Please take a look...

It was def a nice 4 day weekend and a sweet trip. The trails weren't super challenging except for a few parts but the scenery and locals down there made the trip

lol no worries man

Chad and I had similar failures...

That was some scary shit after the fact I realized it could have been a lot worse if I didn't pull off the road when I did. I remember chad saying he lost the front wheel at speed. I'll be checking my nuts a little more often now lol

He is! I bought some spare parts from him that he was getting rid of for the SAS so now I got a spare front driveshaft and spare LCAs. He's doing well just said he's been swamped with work and not alot of time to work on the truck.

It's actually an 82 he did the round headlight conversion on. Was def a cool little rig. It's got 63 swap done and RUF with a set of 35s and 4.7s in the rear (single case). He's got a set of 37s going on and doing chromo longfields and regearing to 5.29s this year too. That thing would go wherever he pointed it, I was jealous :horndog:

This thread is dustier than my shop after cleaning your sliders up :(

I had 6/8 wheel studs fail on my 3500 once. Scary stuff. Did you do any failure analysis on the bolts? Usually by looking at them carefully you can figure out the type of failure.

I did not, unfortunately it failed and we fixed them pretty much on the side of the road so we just popped the old studs out and pulled new ones through. Never had that happen before in the 16 years I've been driving and haven't had it happen since. Almost makes me wonder if someone loosened my lugnuts at camp the night before lol:shifty:

Any chance they got over torqued?

That is a possibility, I used to never use a torque wrench on any of the lugnuts until this happened to me, the old "2 ugga dugga" torque was all I used. None of the lugnuts on the other wheels were way out of torque though and I tightened them all at the same time so who knows.

Now I would not say I'm a religious man but I do check wheel lug torque religiously now after having a wheel almost fly off at highway speed lol

I'd probably replace your others. If they have been over torqued once the damage is already done and are a ticking time bomb. 80ft lbs isn't really a lot if you are using a long enough lever or an impact

Well I lost that wheel over 4 years ago and the other studs haven't let go yet, so I'm going to say I gambled and won? :headbang:
Also I've replaced both front wheel bearings since that happened to the front studs are new, so in theory the only original studs left are the passenger rear ones.
