we got about .5 in yesterday but still way shy of where we should be. My parents live close to here and the smoke by their house was horrible. Couldn’t stay outside for more than 5 mins without eyes tearing and coughing. Also I have a large pile of brush I’d like to get rid of but we have burn bans throughout the state now for the foreseeable future :( Someone needs to do a rain dance lol

Look up the Texas panhandle or Bastrop fires, the fire up there looks like a controlled burn.

400 acres, yikes! Yeah I don’t believe we are officially in any drought but the red flag warnings have been in and out for the last 2-3 weeks. It has caused hell with transmission lines in the right of way for us, lots of extra work and line outages. My buddy runs the dozers for the state and he’s been working nonstop as much as OSHA hours allow.
We had a larger fire up in central Jersey from some jackass firing off a dragons breath round during the dry spell

The 2011 Bastrop fire, 32K acres.
2024 Panhandle fire 1.2million acres.
When I lived Conroe/The Woodlands, we had to shelter in place and remain off the roads for 8 days. https://www.chron.com/neighborhood/...xas-wildfires-photos-anniversary-14435506.php

Took advantage of a work trip for some team building at an REO Speedwagon and Loverboy concert in Saginaw, MI.

The land is slowly turning into a desert.
What ever grass blades not eaten by the cattle are consumed by the agricultural termites. Really prayin that we get some decent rain. I think next week I'm gonna start to clean off the sporadic brush/trees in this pasture and possibly a light disc. If we can get any rain maybe I can get some oats or winter rye going.

The red ants primary food source right now are the grass burrs/sand burrs. Thousands of grass burrs can be seen near their mounds. The Texas Horned Lizard/Toad is what eats the red ants.

I gave the cows a round bale this morning. I have been moving them every few days to different pastures/sections. I want them to consume what ever grass is left and the cows movements help to disturb the termites in the really bad areas.

My daughter had volleyball practice yesterday from 7-10:00. Didn't get home until about 10:30. To be a good dad I decided to turn on the nebula light in her room (gives the room a kinda cool blue/green glow) and I put this Halloween decoration behind the door when she walked in. It got her.. got her good! lol

Lucky me after traveling so much the last three months I finally caught something. The doc gave me a zpack, codeine cough syrup, and some other prescription decongestion pill. Hopefully this is all cleared up by end of next week; I have to be back on the road in two weeks.

My wife and I are both fighting a light case of some virus. We both have headaches, are coughing up junk and have mild muscle fatigue.

Lights go up on Sunday. I refuse to put up lights until December 1st.
I tried that theory this year but I fly out on the 1st so I lost. If I do not get the lights put up before I leave the sammich maker said she would do it alone while I am gone. So I put up the lights and one yard decoration to tease the neighborhood.

So a few weeks ago I applied to be an onX "trail guide". I was approved with the requirement to complete documentation to upload a route (within their requirements) within 3 months. I have a couple routes I like riding on my Tenere 700 so I worked to upload one of them. It is nothing technical or challenging when dry; after a rain it would be a totally different environment. I took the 4Runner on the route today due to the temps and having to stop every so often to get pictures. I will see how this "trail guide" thing works out to see if there may be some perks I can pass along to the TO-R group.
