Talking with the guys house we stay at the temps actually don’t get that low and are driven by the ocean temp. They usually only get to maybe 30-35° on average. Here in new Germany we actually see harsher winters than up there. The lack of daylight would suck though.

That's not actually that bad. But yeah the lack of daylight would suck. I was sitting around the fire pit with my brothers drinking and it was daylight out, and I looked at my watch to see that it was almost midnight! I was like oh shit! It really messed with my body clock.

I spent a year in Galena Alaska, 90 miles from the Artic circle, that was some cold shit. Went about 45 days without it being over negative 40. Good times though, got my Pro drinking card at that time.

I got to river fish for almost 5 hours after being on the boat for 8+ hours, it's wild. This year we were visiting between the sockeye and coho run so we didn't get many keeper salmon, but next year I booked for one week later so I'm hoping we have more silvers to take home. Being light that late def messes with your body! Apparently just less than 100 miles in Homer AK they get that -40 degree BS LOL, no thanks!

My freezer is full for another year, I've got a second chest freezer full of Sika deer and porky pig

And break off nose hairs. Don’t pick your nose when it’s below -40. Nose hairs break off. LOL coldest I saw was about -70 without the wind chill. Throw a cup of coffee in the air and it’s just turns to vapor.

Fucking glad these two weeks are through. I moved five departments to new buildings and lease space. Worked six days of overtime in two weeks.

Weather finally cooled down enough I could actually do that. I went swimming with my girls yesterday to hang out and relax a bit (when they weren't drowning me )

We're in our maintenance outage at work right now. Just have to get through Thursdays "big" wire pull and then it's just coasting the final week. Hopefully this is my last week of 100+ hours. Hoping next week is 80 or less. Then I'm taking two weeks of vacation because fuck this place.

Yeah unfortunately it will be a staycation because my wife only has 18 hours of PTO at work currently. Maybe I can get her to take a Friday off and we'll do a quick Thursday evening to Sunday morning Broken Bow trip or something. If not I have plenty to keep me busy around the house.
