What have you done to your ride lately?

Trying to get the Tacoma inspected and registered again but the battery is bad. So I guess it's getting the battery from the 4Runner and the 4Runner is getting one of those fancy AGM deep cycle thingamabobs that everyone else has.

Tacoma failed inspection because about an inch of rubber was disconnected on one of the windshield wipers. Fucking stupid.

That part was written in to the law because of the wiper blade lobby.

Oh well, I got out of it with only having to replace the headlight bulbs and the wiper blades. $33 total. Better than I expected.

Not sure about other spindles but on my 2nd gen taco.... Been there, bent that. Just moves bend point. There is a Toyota sponsored team that got away with a lot of races where all they did was re-heat treat the spindles. My favorite gussets that has elimimnated my spindle issues - or I should say, stabilized my spindle issues, were these:

By 'stabilizing' - I am saying that I am not sure if the spindles were straight when they were installed. I do know they have not bent since this was installed. I would love to see someone with a inspection jig or CMM to confirm the original straightness was confirmed after welding.

The ones that look good, although I am not convinced they are as strong as the ones that are used on military applications (the ones above) that would make even my use look like a gardener or mall crawler's application.

The ones that looks sexy are these and I could probably get my chains on for winter or mud wheeling:

Been thinking that a Rally Rav4 would probably get me nearly all places I go and would certainly tame my driving style! lol

I was actually eyeballing a little Rav4 last week. It was for sale real cheap; I just do not have room for another project in the driveway or my wallet right now.

I think we all know a Rav4 sitting on Yota axles with f/r lockers and 33" tires would be bad ass.

Sean's reverse psychology worked on me. I went out and mounted the CBI ditch light bracket and the antenna today. I have a 2' antenna w/ quick detach coming that will be my daily use antenna. I will tune and leave this 4' one for trail use only. Installing the CBI ditch light bracket by yourself is no joke. I spent more time carefully wedging screwdriver handles so as to hold the fender back than I did turning the bolts.

I still have a box of parts on the bench waiting to go in that I am not installing - going to have to bribe A A Ron with some/ lots of beer.

That is my '73 F250. It was my first truck that my parents held onto while I was away. She needs a lot of TLC and some day she will get it. Right now she just curses me and rusts in peace.
