She’s home now.. long ass flight. Had to last minute change everything so she could get a seat with legroom for the brace. One of the parents on her team is good friends with a well respected orthopedic specialist in town, they reached out to him. He spoke to the wife over the weekend said he would get her in on Wednesday. So I called today and sure enough, he said he would get her in on Wednesday morning. So that is cool. Fingers crossed it’s not that serious. I am thinking positive. She has been a super resilient kid, did many years of school not missing a single day due to illness.

Went to the ortho today, he took x-rays first. There is a small... very small piece of cartilage that appears to have chipped off from the incident. He said lets move forward with PT first. If the knee starts acting up, locking in place for a second, then they will do an MRI and see if surgery is needed to remove that piece. But honestly, it was barely seen in the X-ray, like a sliver chipped away. But he did drain fluid off the knee. That was crazy, never seen it done. About made me pass out. lol But he said 3-6 weeks recovery at this point. Anyhow, she is still in a brace, got her a cold therapy machine for the knee. I am still optimistic, her next tournament is in Houston I think... or maybe its Dallas again. Anyhow, she most likely won't play. But in 3 weeks they have a tournament in Reno, I hope she can play some of it. Not the entire thing... but at least play a portion of it.

Yeah, he was very cool. We asked "Does she need an MRI?".. "Do you want her to get an MRI because her course of action is not changing".. then "Her brace bothers her, what are her options"... "All braces don't feel good (not exactly what he said.. it was far more eloquent), but chances are in less than a week she won't need one" AWESOME.

She had PT today. The therapist said an 8-12 week recovery, which was a real kick in the nuts. But I spoke to the kid about it and she said “they are just wrong, it won’t take that long”. So kudos to her positive thinking.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's knee injury but sounds like she's in good spirits. Mental positivity can have a big impact on recovery and sounds like she's off to a full recovery with a good mindset.

Finally back to work after being out for almost a week & half. I got some super flu or RSV that kicked my ass for awhile.

First week of travel is wrapping up. Time to get home for a few days.
Spoke too soon. Storms in the DFW area and flight path caused issues for the route and crew times. So I decided to stay in a hotel tonight and get the first flight home tomorrow. It is better than landing at midnight to drive home in the weather.

Still have to be in Phily Monday morning.

Its the kids... no offense but they are little petri dishes with much younger immune systems, you need to act like a 4 year old and build up some immunities. Take a ride to the corner store, on the way in.. lick the door handle.. full on lick. might require gum after. Go take a piss... don't wash your hands... on the way out lick the door handle again. Go home and take a double dose of Mens Centrum Vitamins.

I do not miss my yearly infections working around medical offices and labs.
Yeah there's only a few researchers who keep a spotless, clean lab. The vast majority are absolutely disgusting (it's not just at my work but at other institutions as well that I've been to in person).

It only took one time for me to put my bare hand on a counter to realize that if I was going to touch anything I needed to wear gloves.
