What have you done to your ride lately?

Thats a pretty cool old truck. My buddy has a 69 F100 that he swapped a 2003 Mustang GT motor and trans in. Its not done but it looks awesome. He is now doing a IFS swap on it. When he gets it done in 10 years it will be nice. It was his father-in-laws truck that he bought new and drove for 30+ years. He had another friend who owns a body shop do all the body and paint. Turned out beautiful. Just needs to be finished up.

An F-100 is on my list of future projects. Along with a late 70s GMC dually on bags. Judge me. I don't even care.

I work with a guy that has a 69 F100 that he swapped an early 90s Lincoln town car front clip and drive train into. Body was straight and he liked the patina so he clear coated over it.

Thanks; I keep going back and forth about what I would like to do with it and I keep coming back to just dropping in a decently built 390 with a street port job, simple 4 barrel carb, RV cam, and a nice exhaust. I will probably drop in a 5 speed transmission because that granny 4 is murder on gas. Other than that I like that truck too much the way it is to do much to it. I worked my ass off to pay that truck off.

As for my 4R - looks like the CB is going to be installed today. It will probably still not get power for a few more weeks but at least this much is getting done now. Hopefully while I am in there I will get all of my speakers reconnected since I pulled out the previous amp "install" from the PO.

Well I ended up spending more time than expected undoing the previous owner's dope sound system install to fix my radio. I at least managed to get the CB install mostly cleared out, the speaker cables pulled back to the radio, antenna cable ran and terminated. So I guess overall it was a good day - the 4R still turns on and runs so it was not a bad day.

I also picked up Steven's old Bilstein suspension setup for my Tacoma. He did not have a lot of miles on it so it will be a good upgrade for my 150k miles stock suspension. I will probably knock that out in a couple weeks.

Where's that fool at? He still hasn't registered over here.

Today he was riding mountain bike with a friend; but we talked audio - well I tried - and he has a pretty sweet install for his Tacoma going on. Hopefully once it is done he will post a write up on here about it. He is pretty busy right now since he just bought a house.

So apparently I did miss plugging in the hazard lights when I put the dash back together. Ironically I did not figure it out for almost 15 miles with a lot of turns along the way.

I was impressed at how well the reception for the am/fm radio works now with the adapter for the CB antenna. Also - it is awesome to have radio access again.

Wired in a Badlands wireless winch control to my Warn M8000 tonight. Not too bad of an install. Easy peasy for $29. Cleaned all of my solenoid contacts and connections while I was in there as well.

My wife was taking my truck to work this morning because of all the rain and flooding here, so she dropped me off this morning and as I was getting out, I told her "if you break it, you buy it" (talking about my truck) and shut the door. She called me a few minutes later because the truck broke in the loading dock area of my work. I turned around and went back to find her and by that time there was a security guard making her drag the truck off to the side to clear the loading lanes for traffic. The LCA nut and washer had come off and the truck was sitting on the LCA and this asshole was making her drag the truck on it. I yelled at him to stop, saying that he was an idiot and how expensive those LCA's are but it was too late. I looked around the lot and managed to find the washer and nut about 5 foot away from where the truck originally was.

I ran home (literally), grabbed my Hi-lift and some tools, threw them in my wife's car and hauled ass back to fix the truck before they called a wrecker. After an hour, I got everything back together and on the road again.

I am still puzzled how the nut and washer came off. I locktited them and torqued them to spec. I had to clean out the old locktite to be able to rescrew the nut back on. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend instead of what I had planned. Going through every nut and bolt again to make sure everything's good to go. I am still thanking God that this didn't happen on the freeway, especially with my wife behind the wheel.

Everything I have been putting off buying to store in my toolbox has come back to bite me in the ass. I needed a bigger socket set (1-1/8" socket), a small car lift to keep in the toolbox, and some 4"x4" wood blocks. So all of those will be on order and luckily I had access to all of those at work.

ah....... You answered your own question. Those nutz and bolts are single use. Been there and done that.

Edit: Call up TC and tell them your story - they "should" give you a "racer" discount on a new bolts and nuts. 99.9% sure they will tell you they are a "crush type" fitting.

 I've only used them once. They've never been taken off before.
